3.1.1.7. Chains of the drive of cam-shafts
Prevention
The mechanism of the drive of cam-shafts in engines of early releases differs in existence of a horizontal guide of a level and uspokoitel of the top chain which in engines of late releases are absent.
Removal
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT. |
2. Uncover a head of cylinders. |
3. Remove a forward cover (see subsection 3.1.1.6). |

4. On cars of early releases turn off bolts and remove a guide of a level of the top chain. |
|
5. Hook a hook on a boot of a natyazhitel and take away from the top chain, record a boot in this situation. Turn off two bolts and take off a boot of a natyazhitel. |
6. On engines of later releases take away a boot of a natyazhitel from the top chain and record, having laid a bar. Turn off two bolts and take off a boot. |
|
7. Holding a cam-shaft a key for lysk in a forward part, turn off bolts of fastening of asterisks of cam-shafts. |
|
8. Get bolts together with washers. |
9. Bring out of gearing with a chain both asterisks of cam-shafts and, manipulating, remove asterisks. |
|
10. Bring the top chain out of gearing with an intermediate asterisk and manipulating, get from a head of cylinders. |
|
11. Turn off a bolt of an axis of a natyazhitel of the lower chain and take off a boot. |
|
12. Turn off a bolt of an intermediate asterisk, remove a bolt together with a washer, get an asterisk and the roller. |
13. Remove the lower chain from the leading asterisk of the crankshaft and get from the engine. |
14. Remove the leading asterisk and a spline (if weakened) from a crankshaft sock, you store a spline together with an asterisk. |
Prevention
At removal of chains of the drive of cam-shafts rotation of the crankshaft is not allowed.

Check
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Check existence on the leader conducted and intermediate asterisks of signs of wear and such defects as chips, a kryuchkovatost or lack of teeths. At detection of any of the listed signs of wear and damages all asterisks, and also both chains should be replaced. Chains and asterisks change in a set. |
2. Examine chain links, check wear of rollers. Degree of wear of a chain can be determined by a deflection in the horizontal plane. In a new chain the deflection is almost absent. If in links of chains there is a noticeable side side play, then both chains should be replaced. |
3. Keep in mind that the chain also should be replaced irrespective of existence of external signs of wear after the considerable run or if on the working engine noticeable noise from chains is listened. It is strongly recommended to change a chain in a set with asterisks. Otherwise, if the new chain is established on worn-out asterisks, wear of a new chain amplifies. If the condition of chains and asterisks casts doubts, then address for the qualified consultation in service of Nissan car service. |

4. Check existence of signs of wear or damages on natyazhitel and uspokoitel of chains. At detection of defects replace these details (with a photo – a natyazhitel of a chain with wear signs). |
5. Check a block of a boot of a natyazhitel of the top chain, be convinced that the plunger of a natyazhitel freely moves in a boot. Check a condition of a spring of a natyazhitel, having compared it to new. At detection of damages or wear of a block of a boot, or at a doubtful condition of a spring, a natyazhitel it is necessary to replace. |

Installation
Top chain, distinctive links and adjusting tags
|
1. A tag on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of inlet valves and the corresponding link of a chain
2. A tag on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of final valves and the corresponding link of a chain
3. A tag on an intermediate asterisk and the corresponding link of a chain |
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
|
1. Make sure that the piston of the 1st cylinder is in compression step VMT (the flute under a spline on a sock of the crankshaft has to be turned vertically up if to look on the right side of the engine). Insert a spline into a flute on a crankshaft sock (on an arrow). |
|
2. Orient the leading asterisk so that the adjusting tag was directed from the crankshaft aside, combine a flute in an asterisk with a spline and dress an asterisk on a crankshaft sock. |
|
3. Slightly oil the roller of an intermediate asterisk fresh for the engine and dress an asterisk on the roller so that the flange âàëèêàáûë is turned towards the block of cylinders. Enter an intermediate asterisk into gearing with the lower chain, having combined an external adjusting tag with one of links of a chain of silvery color. |
|
4. Establish a chain together with an intermediate asterisk into place so that the second link with distinctive coloring coincided with an adjusting tag on the leading asterisk of the crankshaft. The adjusting tag has an appearance of a small groove on a nave of the leading asterisk (it is specified by an arrow). |

5. Make sure that tags (are specified by shooters) on intermediate and leading asterisks are combined with links of a chain of silvery color. |
|
6. Wrap a bolt with a washer of an intermediate asterisk and tighten with the set moment. |
7. On the top chain of the drive there are three links with distinctive coloring, each of these links corresponds to an adjusting tag on each of the asterisks covered by a chain. Links with different color are located through different intervals. On engines of early releases all three links have silvery coloring. The first painted link (which has to coincide with a tag on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of inlet valves) will be spaced from the second painted link (which coincides with a tag on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of final valves) on 16 rollers, and the third painted link will be spaced from the first on 22 rollers (see rice. Top chain, distinctive links and adjusting tags). |
8. On engines of late releases intervals between the painted links of the top chain are identical, and the link corresponding to an adjusting tag of an intermediate asterisk has golden color (other links have silvery color and have to be combined with tags of the conducted asterisks of cam-shafts). |

9. Taking into account item 7, establish into place the top chain so, the painted links were turned outside. Dress a chain on an intermediate asterisk, having combined the corresponding link with a tag (it is specified by an arrow) on an asterisk. |
|
10. Establish asterisks of cam-shafts by adjusting tags outside (both conducted asterisks are identical). Dress a chain so that links of silvery color were combined with adjusting tags. Make sure that all links of the top chain differing in color are precisely combined on the center with the corresponding tags on asterisks (shooter). |
|
11. Orient asterisks on cam-shafts, having combined grooves with adjusting pins. Be once again convinced that all painted links of the top chain are combined with the corresponding tags on asterisks (shooter). If combination is broken, then bring asterisks out of gearing with a chain and achieve combination. |
|
12. Tighten bolts of asterisks with the set moment. |
13. Establish a boot of a natyazhitel of the lower chain and tighten a boot axis bolt with the set moment. |
|
14. On engines of early releases establish a level of the limiter of the top chain on a head of cylinders and tighten level bolts with the set moment. Establish a natyazhitel of the top chain on a head of cylinders, previously having wrung out him and having recorded in such situation a hook. Tighten bolts of a natyazhitel with the set moment then remove a hook. Make sure that the block of a boot of a natyazhitel with a force rested against a chain. |
15. On engines of late releases take aside a block of a natyazhitel and hold in such situation a bar. Establish a natyazhitel on a head of cylinders and tighten fastening bolts with the set moment. Remove a bar and be convinced that the block of a boot of a natyazhitel with a force rested against a chain. |
16. Establish a cover of a head of cylinders. |
17. Establish a cover of the chain drive of cam-shafts. |
