9.2. Automatic transmission

Automatic transmissions are established on cars with l engines 1.4 and 1,6. Transmission consists of the hydrotransformer, planetary transfer and multidisk hydraulic clutches and servo brakes.

Planetary transfer transfers torque from the engine at various transfer numbers. The transmission liquid which is under pressure includes and disconnects a number of hydraulic clutches and servo brakes in planetary transfer, than change of transfer number is reached. Liquid pressure in system is supported by the separate pump. Management of transmission is provided with the lever of the selector which is fixed in 6 provisions. In position D of the selector automatic change of 4 speeds of the movement is provided. For automatic switching of transmission to the lowered speed (the raised transfer number) at full opening of a butterfly valve kick - down - the device is provided. In position of the selector 2 the car can move with the speeds corresponding to two first transfer numbers, and in situation 1 – only to the first transfer number. It is forbidden to switch transmission to provisions 1 and 2 if speed exceeds 110 km/h. On the selector the button of the switch of the ultraboundary mode is provided (braking by the engine or overloads). In normal traffic conditions this switch has to be in position of ON, and at the movement on descents or rises – in position of OFF. Any repair of transmission is carried out in service of car service.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift all car and establish on supports.
2. Transfer the selector to situation N.
3. Remove forward wheels.
4. Merge cooling liquid, tighten a drain stopper.
5. Remove the battery.
6. On the GE16DE cars remove a filter air duct.
7. Disconnect wires from the double switch and the solenoid.
8. Disconnect a kick-down-cable from a butterfly valve.
9. Turn off a nut and get a cable from an arm and brackets.
10. Disconnect a cable from the transmission lever, get a bracket and remove a cable.
11. Press collars hoses of cooling liquid, turn off the union and disconnect hoses.
12. Disconnect half shafts (see subsection 10.2).
13. Remove a reception exhaust pipe.
14. Remove a starter.
15. Remove the lower cover of a case of transmission and turn off hydrotransformer bolts, turning the crankshaft.
16. You will hang out the engine on a waist or raise a jack.
17. Drive a lifting platform and prop up transmission.
18. Turn off a nut and get a coupling bolt of a back support of the engine.
19. Turn off three bolts and remove an arm.
20. Remove a restrictive ring.
21. Turn off a nut and get a coupling bolt of the left support of the engine.
22. Turn off three bolts and remove a support and pillows.
23. Fix the hydrotransformer.
24. Turn off bolts of fastening of transmission, previously having designated the place of each bolt (bolts have different length).
25. Make sure that all necessary details are disconnected and cannot interfere with removal.
26. Carefully give to the left and roll out a platform with transmission.
27. Get pins if their landing weakened.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is carried out upside-down.
2. At installation of the hydrotransformer check distance from openings of bolts to the demountable plane of transmission (A) which has to be not less than 21,1 mm.
3. Replace epiploons of half shafts, adjust a kick-down-cable.

Dismantling

Independent repair is not recommended as high qualification and the special tool is required. The car with faulty transmission should be handed over in service of car service for diagnostics of codes of refusals and repair. Transmission can be removed only after reading of diagnostic codes.
