6.1.10.2. Diagnostics, dismantling and adjustment of the carburetor

Before drawing a conclusion about malfunction of the carburetor check installation of ignition, gaps in candles and in valves, a compression in cylinders.

If in these checks the reason of unsatisfactory operation of the engine is not found, then the carburetor should be removed for cleaning and repair.

Dismantling of the carburetor is required as a rule very seldom. In most cases only cleaning of jets and internal channels is required.

Dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a spring from a butterfly valve and check wear of the lever of the accelerating pump.
2. Remove a spring, spring and lock rings and remove the lever.
3. Disconnect a rod of the air gate.
4. Unscrew screws and carefully remove the top section of the case.
5. Check existence of pollution in the float-operated camera.
6. Remove the first spring of the accelerating pump, a lock ring, the filter and get a ball.
7. Turn off a cap and get the second spring of the accelerating pump, a counterbalance (backpressure valve) and a ball.
8. Get the piston of the pump and check wear of the piston and cylinder.
9. Beat out a float axis, remove a float, the needle valve and laying of the float-operated camera (on some carburetors the saddle of the needle valve is not removed).
10. Before dismantling remember an arrangement of all jets.
11. Turn out all fuel and air jets from both cameras, air jets of idling of the secondary camera are forbidden to be turned out.
12. Turn out caps and jets of idling from average section of the case.
13. Unscrew screws and remove small diffusers, get emulsion tubes.
14. Turn out the main jet of primary camera from a wall of the float-operated camera.
15. Turn out the main jet of the secondary camera.
16. Remove the restrictive plug and wrap the screw to a contact with an opening, having counted speed.
17. Turn out the screw completely.
18. If necessary it is possible to turn out coils of valves, carefully get a sealant and springs.
19. Check coils, – when giving 12B plungers have to be involved.
20. On cars with converter if necessary it is possible to remove the valve of maintenance of composition of mix for what disconnect a wire, unscrew screws and get the valve.
21. Clean jets with application of special means (compressed air does not recommend to blow as it is possible to damage carburetor diaphragms).
22. Wash out case details.
23. Check a curvature of the demountable planes of sections of the case.
24. In need of removal of a detail of electric equipment of the carburetor disconnect a wire of this detail from the socket.

25. For this purpose the thin screw-driver (1, 4) take away a uvula of a conclusion (5) and push a conclusion with a wire (2), previously remove a lock ring in a back part of the socket.
26. Designate each wire.
27. At assembly replace worn-out details and all set of laying and sealants.
28. Assembly is carried out upside-down.
29. It is forbidden to tighten jets by big effort.
30. Before installation of the carburetor execute necessary adjustments.

Adjustment of turns of idling and quality of mix

See subsection 2.2.2.

Adjustment of level of fuel in the float-operated camera
The arrow specified an observation port in the carburetor case.

Prevention

Fuel level in the float-operated camera can be checked through an observation port. Idling level has to be between two tags.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Adjustment of level is as follows.
2. Raise and lower a float on the needle valve and measure distance between a float and the plane of the case of the carburetor.
3. If the distance differs from norm, then adjust, carefully turning in the axis lever.
4. Turn the case of the carburetor and check distance between bottom edge of a float and the demountable plane.
5. If the distance differs from norm, then adjust, carefully turning in a limiter uvula.

Adjustment of an angle of opening of a butterfly valve

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Unscrew three screws and remove the thermoelectric drive and a ring.
2. Turn the carburetor, slightly open a butterfly valve and transfer the lever of the raised idling turns to the second step of a cam. Because of the adjusting screw the gate will be a little slightly opened.
3. Make sure that the air gate is closed completely.
4. Transfer the lever повышеннх idling turns to the second step of a cam.
5. A drill check a gap (A) between a butterfly valve and a wall of the camera.
6. If necessary expose a gap, rotating the adjusting screw.
7. Establish a ring and the thermoelectric drive.
8. Combine tags on a roof of the drive and on the case of the air gate, tighten screws.

Adjustment of the air gate

1. Uvula

2. Vacuum pump

3. Pneumatic actuator

4. Diaphragm

5. Gap

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Pull for draft and completely close the air gate.
2. Completely push a rod into a diaphragm working with the screw-driver, or having created depression in a diaphragm.
3. Check a drill a gap between the air gate and a wall of the camera (at a temperature below 5 °C as control use value of a gap for the 1st situation, it is above 16,5 °C – for the 2nd situation).
4. If necessary adjust a gap a uvula podgibaniye.
